Beinn a’ Chaorainn & Beinn Bhreac – Bike Access

12.6km with 250 metres of ascent BIKE, 17km with 770 metres of ascent WALK

Beinn a’ Chaorainn is a very long way from anywhere, guarding the northern entrance to the Lairig an Laoigh – one of the Cairngorm big through routes. When it’s combined with Beinn Breac it makes a satisfying, if long, round from the Braemar side. Most folk go in from Glen Derry, but our Glen Quoich route is better – the regeneration of the pine woods here is something to behold.

From Linn of Quoich a grand track - offering views due to the new track up the hill - leads to the Allt an Dubh-ghlinne where the bikes are left. Crossing the burn, we handrail up the Dubh-Ghleann and eventually reach the Moine Bhealaidh. Beinn a’ Chaorainn is the bump at the end. The even less significant bump at the southern end is Beinn Bhreac which is reached in due course, before dropping down to the waiting bikes.

All our High Tops start at 0700 and cost £45.  On a High Tops day you will tick either a Munro or one of our finer Corbetts, so you will need to have previous walking experience.  On the harder to reach hills we can take bikes if appropriate.  We're happy to take notices out but if you're unsure how you'll do on the day please call our office before booking and chat to an instructor.
