There are lot of Munros in this area. If we take tents up to the plateau from Loch Muick we can tick nine Munros and a bonus Corbett. It’s nice country to be in – not too steep, mostly on grass, and a feeling of remoteness once away from the Lochnagar surroundings.

Day one – Conachraig, Cac Carn Beag, Carn a’ Choire Bhiodheach & Carn an t-Sagairt Mor (17.9km with 1290 metres of ascent). Park at Loch Muick and head up the Corbett first. Then it’s over Lochnagar and on to the White Mounth Munros. We’ll then head south and set up camp near Tolmount.

Day two – Tolmount, Carn an Tuirc, Cairn of Claise & Tom Buidhe (11.4km with 410 metres of ascent). We’ll leave the tents set up – this part of the walk is out and back to the camp – and head over our nearby Munro summit then round to tick the other three. After packing up our tents we’ll head over Cairn Bannoch & Broad Cairn (14.3km with 410 metres of ascent) and take the good paths and tracks back round Loch Muick to the road.
