It was a dark and stormy night... just the ticket for a Hippodrome Halloween.

This stylish and enjoyable comedy thriller is the first film version of the much-performed, British repertory-theatre classic. An eccentric group of travellers is stranded at a remote railway waiting room where the stationmaster tells them of a ghostly train that haunts the station, signifying death for all who have the misfortune to see it pass. A supernatural treat, this adaptation of the play written by Arnold Ridley (Godfrey in Dad's Army), and Great-Uncle to Daisy Ridley of Star Wars fame) balances comedic touches with a satisfyingly scary atmosphere.

Join us for this silent cinema gem, with live accompaniment by acclaimed pianist and HippFest favourite: John Sweeney
